Typically when we are speaking of metal, you might imagine large objects like cars or airplanes and even skyscrapers. You are probably familiar with the typical applications of metal, but did you know that it can be transformed into smaller components as well through a material removal process puzzlingly known as CNC machining? Actually, this process is really amazing and basically creates all the metal parts we rely on daily!
CNC - Computer Numerical Control. Which, in other words is having a person manipulte the metal by hand for production and then using Computer Automated Machining ( CAM) to tell that machine what they need it to become. What is even more incredible, the machine does all of this itself! So it makes, as ordered by the computer, the parts we need.
Creating small metal components that contain intricate details can be exhausting. It must be very precise to achieve the correct shape and size. This the part where even a small error could lead to dysfunction of such component. This is where CNC machining can assist. This process allows for the rapid and easy manufacturing of even complex pieces.
The machine will then follow these lines, performing very accurate motions and slices on the piece without input from human hands. This allows it to tweak the metal on a very small scale, which might be difficult for an agent human hand. One machine can cut pieces as little as 1/2 a pencil tip!
The machine can work at a very high speed as it was run by computer. By doing this you are able to do more parts in less time which is good for businesses. It is also more economical because you do not have to pay too many employees. It can save a lot of money and produce many more things quicker!
The action of machines is very costly, but can perform the production speed!!! Simply put, it is more cost-effective to have something mass produced as compared to having one person handcraft each individual piece. In other words, if you buy one machine then in the long term, it can more parts quickly and cheaply as compared to hiring a company.
CNC machining also has a compatibility with various types of metal, including steel, aluminum and titanium. That is good for things where you need really strong parts, like airplane and cars. This is why the capability to work on various kinds of metals has made CNC machining such an important service for a wide range of industries.
